raksha bandhan history

Once upon a time there was a great war between the Devas and the Asuras.  As a result of the defeat in the war, the gods lost all their royalty.

With the desire to regain his kingdom, Devraj Indra started pleading for help from Brihaspati.

Thereafter, Brihaspati dev performed the law of protection with the following mantra in the morning of the full moon on the month of Sawan.

Yen badho baliraja danavendro mahabalah.

Ten tvambhivadhnami raksha ma chal ma chalh.

Indrani tied the sutras obtained from this worship on the wrist of her brother Indra dev hand.

Due to which Indra Dev got victory and got all his lost royal lessons again and since then the festival of raksha bandhan is celebrated.
